Bike Week Events: Wednesday May 13th 2026

Bike Week 2026 rolls on into Wednesday, 13 May, with a wide range of midweek cycling events happening across Cork. The focus is on staying active, learning new skills, and enjoying cycling as part of everyday life. Expect guided city and greenway cycles, after‑work spins, and supportive sessions that help people cycle with more confidence, whether for transport, fitness or fun.

It’s a perfect day to break up the week, get some fresh air and connect with others through cycling.

Cork Through the Centuries – A City Cycle | Cork City

Aim of The Event: To give people the opportunity to explore Cork City by bike while learning about the city’s history and development over the centuries. The event aims to show how cycling can be an enjoyable way to experience the city.

Event Description: Participants will meet on St Patrick’s Quay before setting out on a guided cycle through Cork City. The route will visit several historic and scenic areas including the River Lee quays, the city centre, and other well-known locations around the city. The group will cycle at an easy pace with short stops along the way where the guide will share stories about the history of Cork and how the city developed over the past 1,500 years. The cycle will use cycle lanes and quieter streets where possible.

Pop-up bike fitting for commuter cyclists | Penrose Dock

Aim of The Event: To help commuter cyclists by setting up their bike in order to resolve their cycling related symptoms

Event Description: Pop-up bike fitting stand outside Penrose Dock for three days during bike week. Commuter cyclists bring themselves and their bike to the pop-up stand. Particpants will then cycle on a trainer and make the necessary changes to their bike set up in order to resolve their cycling related symptoms. e.g saddle up or down, forward or back, handle bar height and stem length etc

Midleton Greenway E-Bike Ride | Midleton

Aim of The Event: To encourage people to enjoy outdoor cycling in a fun, safe and eco-friendly way while exploring the scenic Midleton Greenway on e-bikes. The event promotes health, community connection and sustainable transport. 

Event Description: Join us for an exciting e-bike ride along the Midleton Greenway, where participants can enjoy a relaxed cycle through one of the area’s most scenic routes. This community focused event combines fitness, fun, and sustainability, making it suitable for all over the age of 18.

Event Start Time: 6-8:30pm

Who can take part: Adults (18+) who are comfortable cycling in a group and able to cycle a 16km round trip. Participants should also be comfortable cycling on-road to access the Greenway, or can walk their bike 1.3km from the café to the trailhead.

Lunch Time Spins | Marina

Aim of The Event: The aim of this lunchtime cycle is to promote health and wellbeing, provide a relaxing break from the workday, and encourage participants to enjoy the scenic Cork Greenway while connecting with others in a fun, active way

Event Description: Take a break from the desk and pedal your way through Cork’s Greenway! This lunchtime cycle is a perfect mix of fresh air, scenic views, and gentle exercise—ideal for clearing your mind and boosting your afternoon energy

Leisure Cycle to Kilcrea Abbey | Cork City

Aim of The Event: To encourage cycling participation

Event Description:  St. Olivers Cemetery, onwards to Kilcrea Abbey, Return via Kilumney . Approx 40KM

Bike Maintenance for All – With Sign & Cycle Mechanics & Irish Sign Language Interpreter | Marina

Aim of The Event: To offer a welcoming, hands-on bike maintenance workshop for people of all ages and abilities. Led by the skilled team at Sign & Cycle Mechanics, the event will share practical bike care tips in a fun, engaging way and provide help with your bike. An Irish Sign Language (ISL) interpreter will be present to ensure accessibility for the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community.

Event Description: Join us for a fun, family-friendly Bike Maintenance Workshop led by the expert team at Sign & Cycle Mechanics! This hands-on event is open to all ages and experience levels—whether you’re new to cycling or just want to brush up on the basics. You’ll learn how to check your bike for safety, and we’ll also be able to carry out some minor repairs during the event. To ensure everyone feels welcome, an Irish Sign Language (ISL) interpreter will be present throughout the workshop. Bring your bike, your questions, and the whole family—we’ll take care of the rest!

Clonakilty Town Cycle & Film Screening

Aim of The Event: To celebrate cycling, bring community together & create opportunities for less confident cyclists to enjoy cycling in our area

Event Description:  Join us for the Blessing of the Bicycles at Emmet Square followed by a lap of the town & ending at Film night, in the back of Debarras, ends 9pm.

Ballincollig Evening Picnic Cycle | Ballincollig

Aim of The Event: To get people on their bikes in a pleasant and social atmosphere, secondarily to familiarise people with the various routes, parks, greenways etc. 

Event Description: We’ll enjoy a relaxed evening cycling out along the Lee Valley to Ballincollig Regional Park, where we’ll stop for a picnic, some games, and to find native wildflowers. On the way back, as the Sun sets, we may see the bats come out to forage.

Blackrock and Marina Dusk Cycle | City Centre

Aim of The Event: To get people on their bikes in a pleasant and social atmosphere, secondarily to familiarise people with the various routes, parks, greenways etc.

Event Description: A relaxed and social cycle out the Marina along the old railway line and Mahon strand, with break for a sunset picnic and back to the city.

Who can take part:  A mix of urban roads and off road cycle ways

Blarney 2:30-5pm

Aim of The Event: To get people on their bikes in a pleasant and social atmosphere, secondarily to familiarise people with the various routes, parks, greenways etc.

Event Description: A fun and social easy cycle out to Blarney Castle, via quite back road and green way, on to the Blarney to Waterloo Greenway and back to Cork. There will be a break for a picnic at Blarney Castle.

Event Location: Meeting point Fitzgerald’s Park

Event Start Time: 2:30pm to 5pm

Who can take part: The easiest of longer cycles but one short section on busy roads

Fitzgerald's park Picnic

Aim of The Event: To create opportunities for people to bond socially with cyclists in a manner that creates an ongoing social expectation to cycle and forms the habit of utility cycling around everyday social activity.

Event Description:

A fun celebration of Cycling in the Park!
Free lunch for the first 100 cyclists!
Drop in over lunchtime for some free picnic treats, bike games, a Bike Doc as well as chats and company with other cyclists.
Not a confident cyclist? The perfect chance to meet those who enjoy getting around by bike.

Who can take part: Suitable for all from toddlers on balance bikes to the very oldest.
