Bike Week Events: Thursday May 14th 2026

Bike Week 2026 continues on Thursday, 14 May, with a varied programme of events designed to help people discover new routes, build skills, and enjoy cycling in different ways. Activities taking place across Cork include guided cycles, skills and maintenance sessions, and social events that make cycling feel accessible, welcoming and enjoyable. Whether you’re cycling for transport, leisure or wellbeing, Thursday offers plenty of opportunities to get involved.

It’s a great day to try something different and keep the Bike Week momentum going.

Rothaíocht agus Comhrá – Cycle & Conversation Through Irish | Cork Harbour Greenway

Aim of The Event: To give people the opportunity to enjoy a relaxed group cycle while speaking Irish in an informal setting. The event combines cycling with conversation and introduces participants to the Cork Harbour Greenway.

Event Description:Participants will meet on St Patrick’s Quay before setting out on a relaxed guided cycle along the Cork Harbour Greenway. The cycle will follow the riverside route towards Blackrock and Mahon using cycle lanes and greenways. The pace will be easy and there will be short stops along the way where participants can chat through Irish while hearing about the history and development of Cork Harbour. Bikes and helmets can be provided for anyone who needs them. Pop-up bike fitting for commuter cyclists | Penrose Dock

Aim of The Event:To help commuter cyclists by setting up their bike in order to resolve their cycling related symptoms

Event Description: Pop-up bike fitting stand outside Penrose Dock for three days during bike week. Commuter cyclists bring themselves and their bike to the pop-up stand. Particpants will then cycle on a trainer and make the necessary changes to their bike set up in order to resolve their cycling related symptoms. e.g saddle up or down, forward or back, handle bar height and stem length etc

Burrito & Bikes – Greenway Spin to Mogeely

Aim of The Event: To promote everyday cycling as a healthy and social activity by combining great local food, gentle exercise, and the natural beauty of the Midleton-Youghal Greenway.

Event Description: Start your Bike Week the right way—with a tasty burrito and a scenic spin! Burrito & Bites invites you to kick things off at the Nachos Restaurant before heading out on a guided cycle along the Midleton–Youghal Greenway to Mogeely and back (approx. 16km return).

Who can take part: Adults (18+) who are comfortable cycling in a group and able to cycle a 16km round trip. Participants should also be comfortable cycling on-road to access the Greenway, or can walk their bike 1.3km from the café to the trailhead.

Lunch Time Spins | Marina

Aim of The Event: The aim of this lunchtime cycle is to promote health and wellbeing, provide a relaxing break from the workday, and encourage participants to enjoy the scenic Cork Greenway while connecting with others in a fun, active way

Event Description:  Take a break from the desk and pedal your way through Cork’s Greenway! This lunchtime cycle is a perfect mix of fresh air, scenic views, and gentle exercise—ideal for clearing your mind and boosting your afternoon energy

Pedals on the Dance Floor

Aim of The Event: A cycle and a silent disco!

Event Description: Come join us for a fun filled cycle as we circle Skibbereen town and arrive at a secret location for a popup silent disco. Bling your bike with its disco flair and get your groove on.

The Big Bike Week Skibbereen Cycle Bus | Skibbereen

Aim of The Event: To see how many children can cycle to school and to get more parents joining and helping out with the Cycle Bus

Event Description: Cycle to school for Bike Week with the The Big Bike Week Skibbereen Cycle Bus, get bicycle goodies and have fun with your friends. Parents are needed to help marshal. A publicity push will take place to encourage parents to join their kids and help out with the Cycle Bus

Aim of The Event: To celebrate cycling, bring community together & inspire people to build their own bikes!

Event Description: Come hang out and chat with other bike enthusiasts, chat bike builds, improvements and get to know each other

Cycle to overnight camping trip | Clonakilty

Aim of The Event: To celebrate cycling, bring community together & create opportunities for less confident cyclists to enjoy cycling in our area

Event Description: Cycle 10km from Clonakilty to our secret location at the farm of a bike cycle supporter, bring all your gear Bike-packing – cycle back to Clon for 11 am on Friday. Booking essential – ‘off grid’ camping – email for more details

Cobh & Great Island Cycle

Aim of The Event: To get people on their bikes in a pleasant and social atmosphere, secondarily to familiarise people with the various routes, parks, greenways etc. 

Event Description: A cycle out to Great Island out the old railway greenway. Cross on the ferry before cycling around Great Island There will be a break for a picnic in Marlog before Cobh with panoramic views of Cork harbour and beginning the journey back to the city.

Event Location: Meeting point Michael Coilin on a bike statue on the Grand Parade

Event Start Time: 12pm to 7pm

Who can take part: This will be one of the longer, faster cycles of the week and so will be particularly suited to more confident cyclists.

Galley Tour 6-9pm

Aim of The Event: To create opportunities for people to bond socially with cyclists in a manner that creates an ongoing social expectation to cycle and forms the habit of utility cycling around everyday social activity.

Event Description:

A relaxed social tour of a number of Cork City Galleries’ current exhibitions.
Come join us for inspiring works of art, cultured conversation, sophisticated canopies, and a lovely evening cycle.
All welcome free light refreshments included.
We are limited to 20 participants due to gallery capacity so please book your space to avoid disappointment.

Who can take part: A very slow and easy cycle particularly suitable for less confident cyclists.

Bike Week free Bike Doc Sessions

Aim of The Event: To make it easier for people to begin and continue cycling by enabling them to at least spot potential problems on their bike which would otherwise make cycling difficult and so discourage them from continuing cycling and ideally enable them to solve minor problems themselves

Event Description:

Learn how to check your bike, spot problems before they are serious and fix simple problems like adjusting brakes, changing brake pads or tubes.
Or have me pump up your tyres, adjust your gears and brakes, oil everything and check everything is in safe working order.
And all free!

Who can take part: Suitable for all from toddlers on balance bikes to the very oldest. Under 18’s accompanied please.

Aim of The Event: To create opportunities for people to bond socially with cyclists in a manner that creates an ongoing social expectation to cycle and forms the habit of utility cycling around everyday social activity.

A fun evening of bike-themed art!
Internationally renowned collage artist Silvio will provide everything you need and some gentle guidance for you to create your own bike-themed masterwork celebrating the joy and freedom of cycling.
And all free!

Fix Your Gears taster

Aim of The Event: To learn how gears should work and do simple repairs yourself.

Event Description: An intro session on gears, this will give a better understanding of how they should work. The focus will be on helping you to recognise the different types of problems, and this may allow you to fix any issues that come up on your bike. Feel free to bring your bike along, we will provide bikes for you to try out the repair work yourself. We will have materials and tools provided.

Conna Bike Week

Aim of The Event: Bring the community together in this family friendly event to have fun and get a bike checkup at the cycle clinic.

Event Description: Bike Week community event at Conna local hall, designed to promote cycling, road safety, and community engagement in an inclusive and accessible setting. The event will take the form of a “Cycle Café”, providing a welcoming space for participants to gather, access information, and take part in a range of cycling-related activities. A key element of the event will be a professionally delivered cycle clinic, where a qualified bicycle mechanic will carry out safety checks, minor repairs, and provide practical advice on bike maintenance and upkeep. In addition, bike property marking will be available on the day in partnership with An Garda Síochána, supporting crime prevention and encouraging responsible bike ownership. The event will also include children’s activities and games, with incentives and prizes to encourage participation and promote cycling among younger age groups. The initiative will be delivered in collaboration with Muintir na Tíre
