Bike Week Events: Friday May 15th 2026

Bike Week 2026 gathers pace on Friday, 15 May, with events across Cork that celebrate cycling as a fun, healthy and social way to round off the week. The day features a mix of community‑led activities, guided cycles, and events focused on confidence, safety and enjoyment, helping people of all ages make time for cycling before the weekend begins.

Whether you’re joining a relaxed group spin, taking part in a skills session, or getting active with family or colleagues, Friday is a great opportunity to get involved.

Harbour Greenway E-Bike Ride | Cork City

Aim of The Event: To encourage people to enjoy outdoor cycling in a fun, safe and eco-friendly way while exploring the scenic Harbour Greenway on e-bikes. The event promotes health, community connection and sustainable transport. 

Event Description: Join us for an exciting e-bike ride along the Harbour Greenway, where participants can enjoy a relaxed cycle through one of the area’s most scenic routes. This community focused event combines fitness, fun, and sustainability, making it suitable for all over the age of 18.

Aim of The Event: To create a space where people can learn a bit of bike repair & maintenance

Event Description: Come get your bike looked at, check the breaks and learn a few tops tips for keeping your bike running smoothly on the road! (pop in any day we are open this week for the same treatment!)

Biku-haiku picnic cycle | Clonakilty

Aim of The Event: To celebrate cycling, bring community together & create opportunities for less confident cyclists to enjoy cycling in our area

Event Description: Cycle to Ring for a group picnic and a bit of haiku poem making.

Aim of The Event:To celebrate cycling, bring community together & create opportunities for kids to enjoy cycling in our area

Event Description: A kiddie friendly lap of the town to support safer streets. All welcome, especially kids!!

Clon Estuary birdwatch cycle | Clonakilty

Aim of The Event: To celebrate cycling, bring community together & create opportunities for less confident cyclists to enjoy cycling in our area

Event Description: A birdwatch (and listening!) cycle of the Inchydoney Estuary co hosted by Birdwatch Ireland – one of our most popular annual events!

Parks greenways & quiteways of Cork City

Aim of The Event: To get people on their bikes in a pleasant and social atmosphere, secondarily to familiarise people with the various routes, parks, greenways etc. 

Event Description: 

A relaxed social cycle around the Southside of Cork City
The majority of this cycle will be off road and most of the rest on very quiet roads, it will be slow and easy so is particularly suited to those who are less confident cyclists
A Cycle out along the river to the Lee Fields, then along the Greenway behind CIT to Curraheen, though quite estate roads to the Greenway parallel to the N22 between the Bandon Road and Wilton, though quite estate roads and across the Cycle/Pedestrian bridge to Togher cross to join the Greenway Parallel to the N22 into the Tramore Valley Park for a picnic stop, leave the park via the Greenway Parallel to the N22 to Douglas Village, through the village to the Park on to the Green way to Donnybrook, back through Douglas village to the Green way behind Besskrook to Mahon Strand, past Blackrock Castle and alone the Marine back to the city.

Who can take part: This cycle will be shorter flatter, slower and involve a lot of off road route and so be particularly suited to less confident cyclists.

Cycle through time | Cork City

Aim of The Event: To get people on their bikes in a pleasant and social atmosphere, secondarily to familiarise people with the various routes, parks, greenways etc. 

Event Description:

A guided cycle through the first 20 Billion years of the universe from the big bang at St Patrick’s Bridge through the birth of the first stars. the birth of the Earth, the evolution of life, to today and on to the death of the sun and merger of our milky way galaxy with Andromeda at Blackrock Castle.
The Full Moon Cycle will follow from this cycle and begin at Blackrock Castle Observatory

Bike Week free Bike Doc Sessions | Cork City

Aim of The Event: To make it easier for people to begin and continue cycling by enabling them to at least spot potential problems on their bike which would otherwise make cycling difficult and so discourage them from continuing cycling and ideally enable them to solve minor problems themselves

Event Description:

Learn how to check your bike, spot problems before they are serious and fix simple problems like adjusting brakes, changing brake pads or tubes.
Or have me pump up your tyres, adjust your gears and brakes, oil everything and check everything is in safe working order.
And all free!

Who can take part: Suitable for all from toddlers on balance bikes to the very oldest. Under 18’s accompanied please.

Moonlight cycle. Live Music, Poetry, Dance cycle | Cork City

Aim of The Event: To create opportunities for people to bond socially with cyclists in a manner that creates an ongoing social expectation to cycle and forms the habit of utility cycling around everyday social activity.

Event Description:

Join us for an unforgettable journey into the night as we cycle from Blackrock Castle out around Mahon strand and back along the Old railway line.
Always one of our most popular and memorable cycles of the year.
The journey will be broken by unexpected sensory experiences, which may include music, poetry, performance, light and dark.
This event will follow on directly from the “Bike Week Sunset Cycle Through the Planets” to Blackrock Castle.
Cycle will finish back in the city centre

Event Start Time: 10pm to 2am

Who can take part:  A very slow and easy cycle particularly suitable for less confident cyclists.

Bike Doctor @UCC

Aim of The Event: To offer free checks, minor repairs and advice

Event Description: Mechanics from Cork Community Bikes will thoroughly check your bike and carry out any small repairs as needed. We’ll explain and give advice on looking after your bike.

Fix Your ebike class | Blackpool

Aim of The Event: To learn features of ebikes and learn specific repairs yourself.

Event Description: An intro session on electric bikes, this will give a better understanding of how they should work. The focus will be on helping you to recognise the different problems, and this may allow you to fix issues on your ebike. Feel free to bring your ebike along, we will provide bikes for you to try out the repair work yourself. Materials and tools provided.
