Bike Week Events: Tuesday May 12th 2026

On Tuesday, 12th May, Bike Week 2026 continues with a range of events focused on building confidence, developing skills and enjoying cycling in a relaxed, social way. Across Cork, you’ll find activities including guided greenway cycles, skills workshops, lunchtime spins, and events that support people who are new to cycling or looking to cycle more regularly. There’s also a strong emphasis on safe, supportive environments that make cycling accessible for all.

From practical sessions to scenic group rides, Tuesday is a great opportunity to get involved.

Rothaíocht agus Comhrá – Cycle & Conversation Through Irish | Cork Harbour Greenway

Aim of The Event: To give people the opportunity to enjoy a relaxed group cycle while speaking Irish in an informal setting. The event combines cycling with conversation and introduces participants to the Cork Harbour Greenway.

Event Description: Participants will meet on St Patrick’s Quay before setting out on a relaxed guided cycle along the Cork Harbour Greenway. The cycle will follow the riverside route towards Blackrock and Mahon using cycle lanes and greenways. The pace will be easy and there will be short stops along the way where participants can chat through Irish while hearing about the history and development of Cork Harbour. Bikes and helmets can be provided for anyone who needs them. Pop-up bike fitting for commuter cyclists | Penrose Dock

Aim of The Event: To help commuter cyclists by setting up their bike in order to resolve their cycling related symptoms

Event Description: I will set up a pop-up bike fitting stand outside Penrose Dock for three days during bike week. Commuter cyclists bring themselves and their bike to the pop-up stand. I am then able to have them cycle on a trainer and then make the necessary changes to their bike set up in order to resolve their cycling related symptoms. e.g saddle up or down, forward or back, handle bar height and stem length etc

Queer Bike Rides Cork Intro to Cycling | Blackrock

Aim of The Event: To teach adult queer individuals who do not know how to cycle basic cycling skills.

Event Description: In this an instructor from Wild Atlantic Sports and QBR ride leaders will teach basic bike riding skills to adult queer individuals who do not know how to cycle. This 90 minute introduction event will build the confidence and experience of new cyclists.

Lunch Time Spins | Marina

Aim of The Event: The aim of this lunchtime cycle is to promote health and wellbeing, provide a relaxing break from the workday, and encourage participants to enjoy the scenic Cork Greenway while connecting with others in a fun, active way

Cycle, Connect, Discover: Cork City to Harbour Ride | Cork City

Aim of The Event: Promoting cycling and helping tourism providers reconnect with cycling so they can confidently recommend it to their guests. 

Event Description: A networking cycle for tourism and hospitality businesses in the Ring of Cork Network along the Blackrock to Passage West greenway. Electric or Hybrid bikes will be available and they will cycle 11km to Passage West and back enjoying the scenic views of Blackrock and Cork Harbour whilst building relationships with one another. The meeting point will either be Marina Market of Blackrock Castle car park, depending on the cycling experience/ ability of the group.So far the group has come together twice for networking events https://www.ringofcork.ie/news/

Trishaw Spin | Skibbereen

Aim of The Event: To enable all to experience the joy of being out on a bike

Event Description: Cycling for All Ages. Trishaw Spins for older or mobility-impaired people to feel the freedom and joy of being out on a bike. Residents from Skibbereen Residential Care Centre & Retirement Village and others in the Skibbereen town will get the opportunity to take a bicycle ride around Skibbereen.

Trishaw stakeholder meeting

Aim of The Event: To explore Skibbereen owning it’s own trishaw through the Cycling Without Age initiative

Event Description: All organisations and people are invited to an information event and discussion for Skibbereen owning its own trishaw through the Cycling Without Age initiative.

Who can take part: All organisations and people that are interested to enable people who cannot cycle a regular bike to be able to go on trishaw spins with a trishaw belonging to the town

Midelton-Youghal Greenway cycle

Aim of The Event: To get people on their bikes in a pleasant and social atmosphere, secondarily to familiarise people with the various routes, parks, greenways etc. 

Event Description:

A relaxed social of road cycle on the beautiful new Midleton to Youghal Greenway
This cycle will be completely off-road apart from the first few hundred meters on the Grand Parade, it will be slow and easy so is particularly suited to those who are less confident cyclists.
You can join us on the Grand Parade at 12 noon or at Midleton railway station at 1:10, Irish Rail is providing a free rail transfer from Kent Station to Midleton Station for cyclists and their bikes free of charge to showcase the ease of traveling by bike and rail.

Who can take part: This cycle will be shorter flatter, slower and involve a lot of off road route and so be particularly suited to less confident cyclists.

4 cities History cycle 7-10pm | City Centre

Aim of The Event: To get people on their bikes in a pleasant and social atmosphere, secondarily to familiarise people with the various routes, parks, greenways etc.

Event Description:

Visit the many distinct communities that came to form Cork City on your bike and hear the story of their history and unique identity.
Don’t forget your bike!! But this cycle is also designed to be suitable for cycling on the TFI bikes.

Who can take part: A very slow and easy cycle particularly suitable for less confident cyclists.

Bike Week Movie night | City Centre

Aim of The Event: To create opportunities for people to bond socially with cyclists in a manner that creates an ongoing social expectation to cycle and forms the habit of utility cycling around everyday social activity.

Event Description:

A classic of Italian cinema.
To celebrate bike week 2024 the Friary Bar will treat us to a showing of Bicycle Thieves (Ladri di biciclette) a stunningly visual film with sparse but powerful dialog.
Free snacks & popcorn for everybody!

Bike Week free Bike Doc Sessions | City Centre

Aim of The Event:  To make it easier for people to begin and continue cycling by enabling them to at least spot potential problems on their bike which would otherwise make cycling difficult and so discourage them from continuing cycling and ideally enable them to solve minor problems themselves

Event Description:

Learn how to check your bike, spot problems before they are serious and fix simple problems like adjusting brakes, changing brake pads or tubes.
Or have me pump up your tyres, adjust your gears and brakes, oil everything and check everything is in safe working order.
And all free!

Who can take part: Suitable for all from toddlers on balance bikes to the very oldest. Under 18’s accompanied please.

Fix Your Brakes taster CCB | Blackpool

Aim of The Event: To learn how brakes work and do simple repairs yourself.

Event Description: An intro session on brakes, this will give a better understanding of how they should work. The focus will be on helping you to recognise when there are problems, and this may allow you to fix any issues that come up on your bike. Feel free to bring your bike along, we will provide bikes for you to try out the repair work yourself. We will have materials and tools provided.
