Bike Week Events: Monday May 11th 2026

Bike Week 2026 Monday, 11 May, with a brilliant mix of events happening across Cork City and County. From family-friendly fun cycles and beginner sessions to social spins, inclusive cycling events and activities for young children and adults alike, there’s something for every age and ability. Expect traffic‑free greenways, coastal routes, playful balance bike sessions, early‑morning wellness cycles, and community-led events that celebrate the joy of getting outdoors on two wheels.

Aim of The Event: To get our members out in the fresh air and enjoy a spin on our fabulous local greenway! There would be a great social aspect to it!

Event Description: Cycle from Mogeely to Youghal on the greenway, stopping for a coffee in Killeagh. Some of our elderly members may require e -bikes.

Event Location: Start in Mogeely, Co.Cork

Harbour Discovery: Guided eBike Tour | Cobh to Cork

Aim of The Event: The aim of Harbour Horizons is to offer a unique opportunity to explore the scenic beauty of Cork Harbour while enjoying the comfort of e-bikes. This guided tour promotes outdoor activity, sustainability, and local history, as we cycle from the charming town of Cobh back to Cork City, combining gentle exercise with unforgettable views and storytelling.

Event Description:  Join us for Harbour Discovery—a guided e-bike tour from the vibrant town of Cobh to the heart of Cork City. This scenic journey offers breathtaking harbour views, charming coastal villages, and fascinating local history, all brought to life by our knowledgeable guide.

Event Location: The Shantyman, Cobh

Who can take part:  This tour is open to adults (18+) who are happy cycling on the road and comfortable riding with others. If you’ve got a bit of cycling confidence and fancy a fun spin with great views and good company, we’d love to have you along!

Learn to Cycle | Skibbereen

Aim of The Event: To help families support their children to learn to cycle 

Event Description: Learn simple tips to help a child learn to cycle using balance bikes 

Event Location: Skibbereen Sports Hall

Intro to Bike Care and Repair | Blackpool

Aim of The Event: To learn the main things to check when starting off maintaining a bike.

Event Description: Mechanics from Cork Community Bikes will show you how to check a bike to make sure it’s safe and comfortable to cycle. This will help you be more aware as problems appear and save you money on repairs. Tools will be provided if needed. Bring your bike if you like, or you can learn from our bikes.

Daytime long cycle to Ballincollig | Cork City

Aim of The Event: To get people on their bikes in a pleasant and social atmosphere, secondarily to familiarise people with the various routes, parks, greenways etc. 

Event Description: A fun and social easy cycle out the Curraheen Greenway to Ballincollig Castle and back via the Ballincollig Regional Park. There will be breaks for a picnic at Ballincollig Castle and the Regional Park.

Event Start Time: 1:30pm to 6pm

Who can take part: This cycle will be shorter flatter, slower and involve a lot of off road route and so be particularly suited to less confident cyclists.

Sunset cycle through the Planets | Cork City

Aim of The Event: To get people on their bikes in a pleasant and social atmosphere, secondarily to familiarise people with the various routes, parks, greenways etc. 

Event Description: A guided cycle through a scale model of the solar system from the Sun at Patricks Bridge to Neptune at Blackrock Castle Observatory. We will “visit” each planet in turn, learn a little about it, get a feeling of the scale of the solar system and have some fun on the way.

Tune trail cycle | Cork City

Aim of The Event: To get people on their bikes in a pleasant and social atmosphere, secondarily to familiarise people with the various routes, parks, greenways etc. 

Event Description:

Monday evening time to relax & unwind after a day in the saddle.
What better way to do it than some live music?
So join us as we cycle to catch some of the finest music Cork has to offer.
Visiting; The Crane Lane, Charlies, Sin É, & The Brú Bar.
A very slow and easy cycle particularly suitable for less confident cyclists.

Bike Week free Bike Doc Sessions | Cork City

Aim of The Event: To make it easier for people to begin and continue cycling by enabling them to at least spot potential problems on their bike which would otherwise make cycling difficult and so discourage them from continuing cycling and ideally enable them to solve minor problems themselves

Event Description:

Learn how to check your bike, spot problems before they are serious and fix simple problems like adjusting brakes, changing brake pads or tubes.
Or have me pump up your tyres, adjust your gears and brakes, oil everything and check everything is in safe working order.
And all free!

Who can take part: Suitable for all from toddlers on balance bikes to the very oldest. Under 18’s accompanied please.

How to cycle to work cycle | Cork City

Aim of The Event: To build the confedance and skills required to allow confident lesure or urban cyclists to comute to workplaces in more hostile edge city office/retail parks and industrial estates

Event Description: This cycle is designed for confident leisure cyclists, who are maybe not quite confident enough to tackle some sections of busy roads or rush hour traffic, which may prevent them from cycling to and from work. We will cycle out to Little Island showing you how to deal with busier roads, while avoiding the most hostile junctions. How to strike the balance between finding quick and direct routes while still avoiding any actually dangerous sections. We will come back via the ferry and old railways lines show quick and direct can sometimes also be quite and beautiful.

Who can take part: Confident Adult cyclists who can maintain a reasonable speed and have some experience cycling in traffic.
