Bike Week 2026 kicks off in style on Saturday, 9 May, with a brilliant mix of events happening across Cork City and County. From family-friendly fun cycles and beginner sessions to social spins, inclusive cycling events and activities for young children and adults alike, there’s something for every age and ability. Expect traffic‑free greenways, coastal routes, playful balance bike sessions, early‑morning wellness cycles, and community-led events that celebrate the joy of getting outdoors on two wheels.

Down the Line for a 99 | Parc ui Chaoimh (Marina entrance)

Aim of The Event: Fun, social cycle for families with older children

Event Description: We’ll meet at Parc ui Chaoimh (Marina entrance) and cycle along ‘The Line’ to Passage West for an ice cream and back. 16km round trip. The event will finish with a raffle for Bike Week goodies.

Balance Bike Buddies | Marina Park, Red Sheds/Central Hall

Aim of The Event: Advice on getting young children cycling using balance bikes

Event Description:  We will offer advice to parents on getting children cycling using balance bikes and give children a taste of using a balance bike on a small obstacle course..

Train-Run-Ride | Midleton

Aim of The Event: Women’s Wellness Event 

Event Description: To get the train in midleton, attend the park run and cycle the midleton greenway as one of our women’s wellness events.

Cycling Event for kids with a physical disability | Marina Walkway Cork

Aim of The Event: Provide members with the opportunity to try out a bike

Event Description: We will organise a cycling event on a Saturday morning as part of our Saturday Morning down the Marina Walkway. We will bring along various options handcycles, para running bike trikes etc and have some members and siblings on their own bikes. We want to allow kids try out the various options and explore what suits them best and then have a fun family cycles where all are included followed by treats and a picnic. In advance we have Triathlon Ireland coming to club running sessions with the members teaching them some drills, building up to having a mini triathlon and explaining the importance of bike safety, proper fitting helmets etc

Early Morning Cycle & Sauna Blackrock | Parc Ui Chaoimh to Passage West

Aim of The Event: Social cycle combined with sauna

Event Description: Meet by Parc Ui Chaoimh and cycle on the greenway to Rockville/Passage West. Cycle to Suaimhneas Saunas, Blackrock Road for a 30 min sauna, then it’s a short cycle back to Parc Ui Chaoimh. All cycling on greenway, with the exception of a 1km stretch from Blackrock Village to Blackrock Castle. Four ebikes will be available to use (ID/deposit required).

Family Friendly Greenway Cycle – Cork Harbour

Aim of The Event: To give adults and families the opportunity to enjoy a relaxed group cycle on the Cork Harbour Greenway using mainly traffic-free cycle paths. The event aims to help people feel comfortable cycling while getting outdoors and discovering one of Cork’s most scenic cycling routes.

Event Description: Participants will meet on St Patrick’s Quay in Cork City before setting out on a relaxed guided cycle towards Marina Park using the city cycle lanes. From there the group will join the Cork Harbour Greenway and follow the old Blackrock railway line through Blackrock and Mahon. The cycle will pass several well-known locations including Blackrock Castle and the Marina before returning to the city. The route uses cycle lanes and greenways and is approximately 95% traffic free. Bikes and helmets can be provided for participants who need them.

Learn the key to braking success | Skibbereen

Aim of The Event: For particpants to understand the fundamentals of brakes, general maintenance and pick up tips about cycling on the road 

Event Description: Drop by with or without your bike to learn how to adjust and keep the all important brakes working well while cycling. And try out our new ultrasonic cleaner! Pick up other tips to keep you safely on-the-road

Leisure Cycle to Amenity Park Ringaskiddy | City Centre

Aim of The Event: To encourage cycling participation 

Event Description: Cycle to Amenity Park Ringaskiddy, Coffee stop in Park or Cafe in Ringaskiddy, Return via Carrigaline, Douglas. Approx 30km

Ballyhoura Bike Week - MTB for all | Ballyhoura

Aim of The Event: To encourage participation in Mountain Biking with a particular focus on beginners (of all ages) and on social bike riding.

Event Description: Try-A-Bike for kids and teenagers / Family and Social Group Rides for all ages and abilities.

Aim of The Event: To help people diagnose problems with their bikes, do basic repairs and learn to keep their bike well maintained for the future

Bike Maintenance Workshop | Tory Top Park

Aim of The Event: Teach people how to fix and maintain their bikes to promote environmentally friends modes of transport and healthy activities

Event Description: We’d like to once again run a community bike Maintenance workshop. This year we hope to incorporate it into our annual Community Picnic to encourage higher participation

Passage Cycle | Cork City

Aim of The Event: To get people on their bikes in a pleasant and social atmosphere, secondarily to familiarise people with the various routes, parks, greenways etc.

Event Description: A social cycle out to Passage out the old railway greenway. There will be a break for a picnic in Passage before beginning the journey back to the city.

Event Location: Meeting point Michael Coilin on a bike statue on the Grand Parade

Event Start Time: 10am to 2pm

Who can take part: This cycle will be shorter flatter, slower and involve a lot of off road route and so be particularly suited to less confident cyclists.

Street art tour | Cork City

Aim of The Event: To get people on their bikes in a pleasant and social atmosphere, secondarily to familiarise people with the various routes, parks, greenways etc. 

Event Description:

A relaxed social tour of the Street art around Cork City.
We’ll find out more about iconic works we all know and find some hidden gems you might not know about.
A very slow and easy cycle particularly suitable for less confident cyclists.

Bike Olympics, Fun & games Picnic | Mardyke

Aim of The Event: To reach the largest possible number of people living in Cork with positive images of cycling and inform them of bike week and the events during the week.

Event Description: 

We’ll ​have a cycle fun day and games in the Skate Park, Mardyke Walk.
The day will be filled with Bike Olympics events such as slow bike races and bike salom in what is sure to be a fun-filled day.
Or you can relax with a picnic and watch the fun.
Suitable for all from toddlers on balance bikes to the very oldest.

Opening night midnight cycle of lights | Cork City

Aim of The Event: To create opportunities for people to bond socially with cyclists in a manner that creates an ongoing social expectation to cycle and forms the habit of utility cycling around everyday social activity.

Event Description:

Join us for an inspiring journey into the night as we cycle around the cycle lanes of Cork City Center at midnight all a glow with free lights to open Cork Bike Week 2024.
Please deck your bikes out with bike lights, fairy lights etc and will have some extra lights to finish turning your bike into a magical glowing stead.

Singing Cycle - family friendly | Grand Parade

Aim of The Event: To sing and share evocative songs on a bike tour of Cork

Event Description: A gentle cycle for all ages with stops for us to share songs inspired by Cork’s history, nature and our journey.

Fix Your Bike special session | Blackpool

Aim of The Event: To help people learn to fix their own bike

Event Description:  This special Fix Your Bike session will allow people to learn to fix their bike with help from mechanics. Mechanics will run through full bike checks with you, and a limited amount of small parts will be offered for free for repairs. Refreshments provided
