Bike Week Events: Sunday May 17th 2026

Bike Week 2026 comes to a close on Sunday, 17 May, with a wide range of events across Cork celebrating everything that cycling has to offer. The final day features leisurely community cycles, family‑friendly activities, and opportunities to explore greenways, trails and local routes at a relaxed pace. It’s a chance to enjoy the social side of cycling, reflect on the week’s activities and finish Bike Week on a high.

Whether you’re taking part in your first event or one last spin to wrap up the week, Sunday offers a great way to celebrate cycling together.

Courtmac & Back | Ballinspittle

Aim of The Event: Social cycle for more experienced leisure cyclists

Event Description: We will meet Ballinspittle and cycle to Courtmacsherry. Here we’ll do a stop for lunch (a picnic on the beach, if weather allows!) before cycling back to Ballinspittle for the Bike Week prize raffle.

Circumnavigation of Cork by Bike | Cork City

Aim of The Event: To introduce people to many of the cycle paths, greenways, and quieter routes that connect different parts of Cork City. The aim is to help participants discover safe and enjoyable cycling routes around the city.

Event Description: Participants will meet on St Patrick’s Quay before setting out on a guided cycle exploring a number of Cork City’s cycling routes. The route will include the Mardyke Walkway, Fitzgerald’s Park, the Shaky Bridge, the Lee Fields Greenway, Curraghkippane, Model Farm Road, and Tramore Valley Park before returning to the city centre. The cycle will take place at a relaxed pace and will highlight how different cycle paths and greenways link together across the city. Bikes and helmets can be provided for participants who need them.

Cycle to Tragumna through the beautiful Liss Ard estate | Skibbereen

Aim of The Event: Cycle with the safety of a marshaled group for adults and families

Event Description: Enjoy a gentle cycle with off road locations through beautiful Liss Ard Estate and stunning Tragumna beach with an optional swim for the braver souls . Enjoy delicious food at the Skibbreen Eagle before a cycle back to Skibbereen on a mostly flat route.

Meeting Time & Location: Abbeystrewry National School Castletownsend Rd, Carrigfadda, Skibbereen 1pm

Who can take part: Open to all ages and children must be accompanied by an adult. It’s a gentle paced cycle but children under 7yrs may find it too far but you know your own children

Heritage Cycle around Ring Darrara

Aim of The Event: Encourage people our on the bike to enjoy the local history and mythology of the local area. Leaving from Ring- approx 10-15km.

Event Description: Local storyteller and artist Mark Dougherty leads a cycle around some historical haunts giving insight and suspense to our fields and ditches. Cycle will be fully marshalled and supported with first aid and mechanical support. Accessible cycle- we will endevour to make this cycle as accessible as possible.

Event Location: Meet and End Point at the bridge in Ring (under mackerel palace). Cycle goes around South RIng, climbing along headland of Seven Heads before dropping back into Dararra. 10-15km.

Bike Week Bike Bop | Cork City Centre

Aim of The Event:  To promote cycling and celebrate Bike Week 

Event Description: Disco on wheels aropund Cork City

Event Location: Cork City Centre 

Event Start Time: 2pm

Meeting Time & Location: 1:45 – Michael Collins statue, Grand Parade. 

Who can take part: Open to all, Children must be supervised by an adult.

Biek Wizards Cycle refresher training | Clonakilty

Aim of The Event: Small group training to get a bit of confidence back before the summer!

Event Description: Small group training with Ulick O’Beirne (Bike Wizard) to get a bit of confidence back. 8 participants max.

Event Location: Beechgrove Estate, Clonakilty, P85 CF10 (near the Gaelscoil)

Crosshaven Cycle | Cork City

Aim of The Event:  To get people on their bikes in a pleasant and social atmosphere, secondarily to familiarise people with the various routes, parks, greenways etc. 

Event Description: A cycle out to Crosshaven out the old railway greenway. There will be a break for a picnic in Crosshaven before beginning the journey back to the city.

Event Location: Meeting point Michael Coilin on a bike statue on the Grand Parade

Event Start Time: 11am to 6pm

Who can take part: This will be one of the longer, faster cycles of the week and so will be particularly suited to more confident cyclists.

Bat cycle | Cork City

Aim of The Event: To get people on their bikes in a pleasant and social atmosphere, secondarily to familiarise people with the various routes, parks, greenways etc. 

Event Description:

Relaxed evening cycle out along the Lee Valley as the Sun sets we’ll see the bats come out to forage and we’ll be able to point out what to look for and see them in flight feeding on the midges over the water.

Wild Walls cycle | Cork City

Aim of The Event: To get people on their bikes in a pleasant and social atmosphere, secondarily to familiarise people with the various routes, parks, greenways etc. 

Event Description: 

Come see & hear the story of miniature natural wildernesses hidden in the cracks & hollows of the walls of Cork. Learn how nature finds a way and thrives even in the heart of the city.

Closing night cycle of lights 11pm-1am | Cork City

Aim of The Event: To create opportunities for people to bond socially with cyclists in a manner that creates an ongoing social expectation to cycle and forms the habit of utility cycling around everyday social activity.

Event Description:

Join us for an inspiring journey into the night as we cycle around the cycle lanes of Cork City Center at midnight all a glow with free lights to Close Cork Bike Week 2024.
Please deck your bikes out with bike lights, fairy lights etc and will have some extra lights to finish turning your bike into a magical glowing stead.

Cycle to Ballincollig Park | Cork City

Aim of The Event: To enjoy a bike ride on quieter routes

Event Description: A ride for all ages, mainly on quiet roads or on cycle paths to Ballincollig Regional Park. Includes refreshments. Total distance up to 25km. Planned return to Cork at 4.30pm-5pm
