As part of Cork Sports Partnership’s Cork Outdoors Week, outdoor enthusiasts are invited to take part in a unique Hiking With Your Phone workshop on Thursday, 14th August. Delivered in partnership with Mountaineering Ireland, this practical one-day course will help participants make the most of their smartphone while hiking, improving confidence, safety and navigation skills in the outdoors.
Whether you’re new to hiking or a regular hillwalker, your phone can be a powerful tool when used correctly. This workshop will explore how smartphones can support route planning, navigation and outdoor decision-making, helping hikers to navigate smarter, hike safer and explore more.
The course includes both theory and practical sessions, giving participants the opportunity to learn essential skills and put them into practice in an outdoor environment.
Participants will gain a better understanding of how to use their phone as part of their hiking toolkit, while also learning about its limitations and the importance of being prepared when heading into the hills.
Cork Outdoors Week celebrates the fantastic opportunities available across Cork to get active and enjoy the outdoors. Through a range of events and activities, Cork Sports Partnership aims to encourage more people to experience the physical, mental and social benefits of spending time in nature.
Be prepared. Be confident. Be happy hiking. Join us on 14th August and discover how your phone can become an invaluable companion on your next outdoor adventure.
