Women in Sport Week is set to take place across Ireland from March 2nd to 8th 2026. This week-long celebration aims to honour every woman and girl involved in sports, whether as players, coaches, officials, volunteers, or leaders. It also seeks to highlight the ongoing efforts of Sport Ireland, National Governing Bodies, Local Sports Partnerships, and other stakeholders in promoting women’s participation in sports.
Engaging in sports and physical activity offers numerous benefits for women, including improved physical health, enhanced mental well-being, and increased opportunities for social interaction. Regular participation can lead to better cardiovascular health, strengthened muscles, and reduced stress levels. Moreover, being part of a sports community fosters a sense of belonging and empowerment.
Cork Sports Partnership is dedicated to supporting women and girls in accessing and engaging in sports and physical activities. We offer a variety of programs tailored to different interests and fitness levels. To celebrate Women In Sport Week we are offering a number of free taster events to get women active. By participating in these events and programs, women in Cork can experience the myriad benefits of physical activity while connecting with like-minded individuals in their community.
