Cork Sports Partnership has had a strong relationship with water sport activity providers for many years. The inclusion section in particular has gone from strength to strength and CSP is keen to acknowledge and celebrate the hard work done by all partnering organisations, to ensure they cater for people with disabilities.
The water sports inclusion collaboration between Cork Sports Partnership, Sailability, Kinsale Outdoor Education Centre, Surf2heal, and Sailing into Wellness allows people with disabilities and their families to experience sports that they may have known were accessible to them.
The water sport inclusion programmes, which are regularly accessed by general public, schools, youth groups, disability services and schools, showcase how inclusive water sport has become accessible in Cork and the many adaptations of equipment, along with trained staff allow for more opportunities.
Speaking about the water sport inclusion programme, Cliona Horan, Sports Inclusion Disability Officer with Cork Sports Partnership said “Water sports inclusion has become very popular, we’ve had family days, summer camps and summer programmes. We want to make it more sustainable and create these opportunities all year round.”
