Tri Heroes is bringing triathlon to schools around Ireland, teaching skills, instilling confidence and generating smiles through cycling and running and Cork Sports Partnership & Triathlon Ireland are now taking expression off interest from Cork schools!!
Since it first started more than six years ago, thousands of school children have participated in Tri Heroes and become fully fledged duathletes and triathletes.
Option 1: FULL 5 x 1 hour (1 hour per week) sessions delivered by a qualified Coach
- These skills sessions include a run, bike, transition. brick session and we finish the final session with an opportunity for the children to test their skills in a mini duathlon event.
- The sessions primarily include cycling, running and transition, culminating in a mini duathlon (run-cycle-run) event on the last day. Your school must have access to facilities such as a playing field, playground or outdoor pitches/astro turf. Students must have access to bikes and helmets.
- If they want to share bikes and helmets we can work around that too.
- Alternatively if you have access to a pool we can adjust the programme to include a swim session and a mini triathlon (swim-cycle-run) as the event on the last day.
- Delivery of the programme will commence on a date that is agreeable to the school and the assigned coach.
- The programme costs €10 per student for the full programme (€2 per session) If you are a DEIS school there is no charge.
Option 2: MINI 1 x 1 hour session delivered by a qualified Coach
- This is an introductory session where qualified coaches deliver a sample mini event. This will allow the children to sample the rules of a triathlon in an event format. The school could then follow up with Option 1 where the children could learn and improve their skills for the sport.
- Delivery of the programme will commence on a date that is agreeable to the school and the assigned coach.
- The session costs €3 per student. If you are a DEIS school there is no charge.
Option 3: Teacher Delivery
- If you have a teacher in the school who would like to deliver the programme themselves we can provide the programme details including session plans, skills cards and guidance on how to set up your mini event. Please contact us if you wish to avail of this.
- There is no charge for this method of delivery.
