Research Assistant (Contract for Service)

Cork Local Sports Partnership CLG wishes to invite applications from suitably qualified persons for a contract for services for a Research Assistant as part of the Wellcomm Active Initiative funded through the Dept. of Health, Slaintecare Fund.

A collaborative project between Cork Sports Partnership and the Cork Kerry Community Healthcare team the Wellcomm Active Initiative seeks to empower citizens to manage their own health through increased physical activity and improved diet.  

The Research Assistant will primarily support the Project Lead on successful development, delivery, management and sustainability of the Wellcomm Active Initiative and undertake innovative qualitative and quantitative assessments of programme adherence, compliance and fidelity.

Essential Requirements:
The Candidate must have:

  • A graduate qualification in a field of discipline relevant to the area of investigation i.e. MSc (or equivalent) in Sport and/or Health Management, or a related subject.
  • Research experience.
  • Sufficient knowledge of health management and/or research methods and techniques to work within the specified project.
  • Good report writing and presentation skills.
  • Good analytical skills and computer skills.
  • An ability to work independently to a tight schedule.
  • Evidence of excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • High levels of initiative are encouraged.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly – both orally and in writing.
  • Good interpersonal skills when working with a range of groups.
  • Experience of working in an academic / public-sector environment setting.
  • Ability to assess resource requirements and use resources effectively.
  • Translate strategy into operational plans with measurable outcomes.
  • Understanding of and ability to contribute to broader project management and administration processes.
