WellComm Active is a community health and wellbeing initiative that seeks to empower citizens to manage their own health through increased physical activity.
The initiative’s focus is on delivering programmes that support active living, encouraging and empowering people to live healthy lives independently in their own communities.
Coordinated by Cork Sports Partnership and supported by Cork Kerry Community Healthcare Health and Wellbeing, the aim of this initiative is to support better health and increased physical activity among key populations in Cork.
A 10-week physical activity programme for adults and older adults to improve strength & balance, range of movement, flexibility, bone strength, muscle power & falls prevention. An enjoyable on your feet exercise class designed to ensure environmental factors will not become an obstacle to enjoying an active and healthy life.Sessions are delivered by CSP tutors, upskilled by HSE Physiotherapists in the Better Balance programme.
FunFit is a community based physical activity programme for children aged 6-12, developed in response to a gap identified by paediatric therapists for an appropriate community based physical activity programme.The programme has been developed through an ongoing partnership between Cork Sports Partnership, Cork Kerry Community Healthcare, Health Promotion & Improvement team, and primary care Paediatric Physiotherapists.
MoveWell is a low-intensity, structured beginner exercise class suited for individuals with low levels of physical activity, led by qualified exercise professionals. The programme offers a safe and supported pathway for adults with chronic conditions to become more physically active. The programme was designed through a collaboration between Cork Sports Partnership (CSP) LeisureWorld Cork, and the HSE Health Promotion & Improvement (HP&I) team.
When we look after our physical health, our mental health can feel the benefits too. There are lots of other things we can do along with physical activity that will enhance our health and wellbeing.
Cork Sports Partnership in conjunction with a number of partner organisations, have put together the following health and wellbeing resources that will support you and your family through this difficult and challenging time.
As part of WellComm Active, Cork Sports Partnership have worked in collaboration with the HSE to develop 2 new Neuro Functional Training Programmes and locations in Cork.
The NFTP sites provide physical activity and exercise opportunities to people who have had a single neurological event or people with progressive chronic neurological conditions.
