Bring Cricket to Your School: Cork Sports Partnership and Munster Cricket School Engagement Programmes 2024/25
Exciting cricket programmes are now available for primary and secondary schools across Cork through Cork Sports Partnership and the Munster Cricket Union. These options introduce students to the thrilling game of cricket, with multiple programmes tailored to different age groups and levels of experience. Whether it’s a quick introduction or a full programme, students and teachers alike have a unique opportunity to engage in this exciting sport.
Primary School Cricket Programmes:
1. Primary Introductory Cricket Module
This 5-week programme teaches students the basics of batting, bowling, fielding, and
gameplay through engaging 45-minute sessions (1 min / 4 Max). A Blitz Day wraps up the
programme with a day of cricket games if scheduling permits. Teachers can train as Cricket
Activators, allowing them to lead future cricket sessions, meeting CPD requirements and
fostering school-based cricket activities.

2. Primary Follow-Up Cricket Module
For schools looking to build on their introductory module, this follow-up programme provides
5 more weeks of skill development, tactical understanding, and team play, again culminating
in a Blitz Day. An ideal choice for schools interested in deeper participation, the follow-up
module also includes the chance to join the Inter School league. Munster Cricket SCEOs will work closely
with teachers to develop their skills in delivering cricket activities within the school.

Secondary School Cricket Programmes
1. Secondary Introductory Cricket Module
This 5-week programme builds students’ foundational skills in cricket through 45-90 minute
sessions, concluding with a Blitz Day where possible. Teachers can train as Activators to
lead future cricket activities, meeting CPD needs while building school cricket culture.

2. Secondary Follow-Up Cricket Module
For schools that have completed the introductory module, this follow-up programme provides
advanced training in cricket techniques, tactics, and gameplay. The programme includes
options to join the InterSchool league and introduces the basics of scoring and umpiring,
enhancing students’ understanding of the game.
- Cost: €200 per school programme
3. TY Cricket Programmes
This unique 6-week programme combines leadership and game skills for TY students, using
“Smash It/It’s Wicket!” resources and online training. Students earn a Cricket Ireland
Activator certificate upon successful completion. With this certification, they gain the skills to
coach younger students and participate in cricket activities at school.
- Cost: €25 per student, minimum 12 students
- Inclusion: Automatic entry in a proposed Inter-School league
