Active Community Awards Winners Revealed

Active Community Awards Winners 2022 Announced at Virtual Ceremony 

 Cork Sports Partnership was delighted to host the 2nd Annual Active Community Awards on Thursday November 24th, where the four winners for 2022 were announced.

The Active Cork Community Awards were established by Cork Sports Partnership under its Active Cork Communities Initiative to honour, recognise and celebrate the individuals and groups in our local communities that go above and beyond in their efforts to promote community sport and physical activity opportunities while equally promoting positive health and wellbeing for all.  

Twelve finalists were featured as part of the live awards ceremony, and the four category winners for 2022 were announced live on screen where they were joined by friends and family. The  category winners for 2022 were: 

Active Community Group – Delanys GAA  

Active Community Inclusion – Crosshaven Tennis Club Sports Inclusion Committee  

Active Community Campaign – Keelnameela Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others  

Active Community Champion – Nobby Dunne – West Cork Jesters 

  

On Thursday last, December 1st, all four winners, including a selection of guests, as well as members of the Cork Sports Partnership board and team, were presented with their respective awards at a ceremony in the amazing Vertigo at the Cork County Council HQ.

Morgan Buckley, Chair of the Cork Sports Partnership board opened the celebrations and acknowledged the great work that each of the winners were doing at a local level, “ You are all champions in your community promoting sport & physical activity, and for that you should be commended “. 

Claire Hurley Programs Manager with Cork Sports Partnership, also congratulated those present as well as all the 2022 finalists, I think we can agree that the finalists and category winners epitomise the values of Cork Sports Partnership and represent the very reason why they should be recognised and acknowledged as key influencers that impact and influence local people in their communities each and every day”, she added.  

Each category winner received a bespoke Active Community Award medal, and framed certificate and have the amazing videos that were captured as part of the awards to share as part of the celebrations. The Cork Sports Partnership would like to thank everyone who made these awards a success and look forward to meeting a new group of Active Community Award finalists in 2023.
