About European Week of Sport

European Week of Sport is an annual European wide celebration of sport and physical activity which takes place in September each year

This week-long celebration aims to provide opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to take part in a range of different sport and physical activities.

Each year, Cork Sports Partnership teams up with a number of partner organisations to coordinate community-based sport and physical activity taster opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.

Cork Lacrosse

Info

The Cork Lacrosse Club is a growing lacrosse team based in Cork City, Ireland, welcoming players of all skill levels. They are part of the Irish Lacrosse League, actively promoting the sport in the region and building a strong local community. Lacrosse, although relatively new to Cork, is gaining momentum, with the club regularly hosting training sessions and friendly matches. We are open to all genders : )

Time

  • Currently we operate in the Spring and Autumn. Taking a break over Dec/Jan and July/August.
  • We currently train on Sundays at Tramore Valley Park on Sundays at noon.
  • 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm

Na Laochra Aeracha is Munster’s first LGBTI+ inclusive GAA club. Catering for all sexualities, background, fitness levels and experience, we are a club for everyone. We welcome all members of the LGBTI+ community and allies. We have inclusion and respect at the core of our club and we ensure that anyone and everyone is respected and welcomed to our training sessions. We create an environment for fun, social football where people can improve their skills and fitness, while having a lot of fun and meeting lots of amazing new people. If you are unsure about starting out, come down for a session and see what it’s all about!

Cork Hellhounds RFC

Cork Hellhounds RFC is an LGBTQI-Inclusive rugby club based in Cork. Established in 2020 the Hellhounds currently offer a men’s Rugby Union team and a mixed gender tag rugby team.

Training is held twice a week in the city where beginners and experienced players are welcome to take part regardless of sexuality or gender.

Cork Hellhounds RFC is ratified by Munster Rugby and the IRFU and is a member of International Gay Rugby.

Time

We operate 12 months of the year, we take a break from mens Rugby Union contact over the summer season and we focus on our tag rugby events.

We also have a busy social calendar through out the year to keep our members busy.

Training is Fridays Nights Sundays Well RFC in Autumn/Winte4
Every Sunday Morning at the Mahon Rugby Grounds 11am to 1pm and Tuesdays during the Spring Summer at Tramore Valley Park from 7pm

Cork Renegades Baseball

Info

Established in 2022, the Cork Renegades already had decades of baseball experience in its ranks. With players hailing from the Americas, Eastern Europe, the belly of Africa and many other corners of the globe, every player in the squad has come together in Cork to do one thing and one thing only, play seriously fun baseball.

Our inaugural season in 2023 saw us become winners of the national Irish baseball B2 league and then the B league championship.
A fairytale start for this fabulous team!

Activator Pole / Walking Initatives

Cork Sports Partnership co-ordinates many different activator and walking initiatives through its Get Cork Walking Initiative.

Table Tennis

Cork Sports Partnership is delighted to work with Cork City Council to install two permanent outdoor table tennis tables in Tramore Valley Park.

Equipment to play is free to rent from the Box-Up container in the park.

Petanque

Cork Sports Partnership is delighted to work with Cork City Council to activate a new petanque playing area in Tramore Valley Park.

Equipment to play is free to rent from the Box-Up container in the park.
