Midleton Greenway  Family Fun Cycle 
Family Cycle, To encourage families to spend time together cycling and expose them to the local amenity Greenway. Participants will be accompanied by ride leaders from Midleton Greenway Bikes & Bites in cycling from Midleton to Mogeely on the newly opened section of MY Greenway. A short stop will be made in Mogeely for a snack.

Time:  11am

Location: Commencing at the Midleton Trailhead of the Midleton Youghal  Greenway (in the car park of Midleton Railway Station)

Suitability: Families who can all cycle (bikes can be provided for adults & children aged 7+, chariot trailers available for younger children)

Bikers Big Bike Week BBQ
A fun celebration of cycling culture in Cork (& a free BBQ!) After the BBQ we’ll have a relaxed social evening in the pleasant surroundings of the Lough as well as some bike games.

Ride the Thrill With Mountain Bike Club of Cork
Ride the Thrill: Intro to Mountain Biking. Giving curious new mountain bikers an introduction to biking. For this event participants will need a mountain bike in good working order, helmet, gloves and eye protection (highly recommended) clothes suitable for biking including a waterproof jacket and any food and drink you’ll need to keep the energy levels up!

Time:  2:30pm – 4:30pm

Bird Watch Estuary Sunset Cycle
Promote biodiversity & appreciate for our natural landscape, as well as promote cycling on our coastal roads, Cycle from town to the Inchydoney estuary identifying local birds species, in collaboration with Bird Watch Ireland

Wheel truing and building advanced taste
An intro session on straightening and building wheels, this will give a better understanding of how these should work. The focus will be on helping you to recognise when there are problems, and this may allow you to fix any issues that come up on your bike. Feel free to bring your bike along, and we may use it for demonstration, and you will have the chance to try out the repair work yourself. We will have wheels and tools to work on the wheels used. Bad weather could affect this outdoor event.

Fix Your Bike special session
This special Fix Your Bike session will allow people to learn how to fix their bikes with the help of mechanics from Cork Community Bikes. Guided rides to the workshop wil leave Cork Opera House at 1.45pm and 3pm. Mechanics will run through full bike checks with you, and a limited amount of small parts will be offered for free for repairs. Refreshments provided.

Family nature cycle
A family-friendly bike ride stopping often to notice nature, led by local expert Chris Moody. The ride will start at the main entrance of Fitzgerald’s Park, going out to Lee Fields, back to North Mall and ending where it started. Free refreshments at café on the way.

Cork County Council Library & Arts Service
Bike Week Design a t-shirt competition & Bike Sense ‘Cycling for everyone’ workshop x 2/3. To promote cycling as a form of recreation for children & Educate public on bike care and maintenance. Art competition would be promoted thoughout the library branch network, as well as directly to Primary schools in Cork County. The children would be invited to submit a drawing, with a cycling related theme, with the chance that each branch winner would have their design printed on a t-shirt for them to keep & Educate workshop attendees on to how care and maintain their bikes.

Bicycle Photo Exhibition
To encourage & promote cycling in our town, Photos will be displayed in shop windows around the town by Thady Tra – An exhibition of local cyclists.

A free public exhibition of cycling-related art to remain open for the duration of Bike Week with an opening reception. The opening will also feature a live musical performance
