CSP Tutor

Overview & Criteria

Cork Sports Partnership as part of its Active Cork strategy engages the services of qualified and experienced Tutors/Coaches & Facilitators to roll out various programmes and initiatives across Cork.  The recruitment of tutors, coaches and facilitators is on an ad-hoc basis and via an expression of interest process, where a panel may be formed of those that meet the required criteria. Cork Sports Partnership may seek expertise/experience in the following areas across the calendar year:

Sports:

  • Primary School Athletics
  • Community Couch25K
  • Disability Sports
  • Other sports specific areas

Physical Activity

  • Older Adults Exercise
  • Children & Adolescent Exercise/Physical Activity
  • Weight Management

Community

  • Healthy Eating/Community nutrition & cooking
  • General exercise prescription & instruction

Recruitment Criteria (please note that while all these criteria are not essential, priority will be given to individuals that can show or demonstrate evidence in most)

  • Qualification in Exercise/Fitness Instruction, Sports Coaching or Similar (e.g QQI Level 5/6, Higher Certificate, Degree) NCEF, REPs, EHFA accreditation.
  • Experience working with the above target groups or sports and or in the fitness industry.
  • Ability to advise, inform, motivate, and support individuals especially those with low participation levels.
  • Professional indemnity insurance will be required for all tutors. 
  • A constructive, positive, and progressive attitude to working on behalf of the Cork Sports Partnership
  • A self-motivated approach to work  that also encourages initiative in adapting/progressing.
  • Full clean drivers license with access to own transport is essential. 
  • Training maybe provided across some areas as outlined in the above.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Delivery of CSP programmes.
  • Work with Sports Development staff to design programmes/initiatives.
  • Ensure all programmes that are delivered are appropriate for the target groups and necessary screening is carried out before programme.
  • Respectful of environment/venue that programmes take place with adherence to safety.
  • Ensure all paperwork is in order, sign in sheets, programme evaluations/reports and any other paper work prescribed by Cork Sports Partnership.
  • Tutors will also from time to time have responsibility for collecting participation fees. As the majority of fees are collected online this will only be on a case by case basis.

Recruitment Process

Cork Sports Partnership will select tutors based on meeting the above criteria. If Successful, applicants will be required to facilitate programmes and initiatives based on CSP requirements and within specific timeframes. Please note that programmes and initiatives are run on an ad-hoc basis during the calendar year and subject to Funding.

It is not and should not be construed as an offer of employment or forming any part of a contract between Cork Sports Partnership and such parties as may respond to the notice. CSP decision in relation to the formation of a panel is final.
