School Visit Programme

Primary Schools

Basketball Ireland and Cork Sports Partnership have teamed up to roll out a Cork Primary Schools Basketball School Visit Programme. The programme will run across a limited number of Cork primary schools during the 2018/19 school year.

The aim of the programme is to introduce 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th class primary school children to the Sport of Basketball in a fun, inclusive and supportive environment. In return for full commitment to the programme, each school will receive coaching sessions led by a Basketball Ireland and Coaching Ireland certified coach.

This programme now has two options available:

  • Option 1: – 1 visit (1 hour session) €2 per pupil 
  • Option 2: – 3 visit (3 x 1 hour sessions) €5 per child 

This is a heavily subsidised by Basketball Ireland and Cork Sports Partnership. This will be payable upon acceptance to the programme. 

Steps involved in the Application Process

Step 1: School registers 3rd – 6th classes (max 30 per group) to participate in the Cork Primary Schools Basketball School Visit Programme by completing the programme registration form with Cork Sports Partnership.

Step 2: Registration will be acknowledged by Cork Sports Partnership.

Step 3: Successful schools will be contacted by Cork Sports Partnership to confirm acceptance on to the programme and invoiced to take part. Unsuccessful schools will be placed on a waiting list for future phases of the programme.

Step 4: Following receipt of payment, our Basketball Development Officer Ciaran O Sullivan will contact all successful schools to arrange a suitable start date for the school visit/s.

Step 5: A Basketball Ireland Tutor will deliver the programme as agreed with school.

Schools are invited to register for the programme throughout the school year. However, as places are limited each school year, school will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
